Winners of the 2017-2018 René Cassin Prize

 


On 4 December 2017, Regional Councilor Yuri Torri, Secretary of the Precidency  Office of the Legislative Assembly of the Emilia Romagna Region, with Sara Swartz, Director of the Universitas Programme of the KIP International School, professor Giuseppe Giliberti, Scientific Coordintator of the Prize, and Dr. Leonardo Draghetti, General Director of the Legislative Assembly, awarded three prizes in honour of René Cassin to recent graduates from the Region’s universities as recognition of their outstanding specialization or Masters theses related to human development and human rights.

Margherita Ciceri won with a thesis entitled "EU biofuels policies threat to food security: Food prices effects and land access impacts on marginal farmers", thesis supervisor prof. Giorgio Giovanni Negroni.

Lara Mannu won with a thesis entitled "Il cerchio e la platea: un’esperienza di cooperazione tra Italia e Senegal" (The circle and the audience: an experience of cooperation between Italy and Senegal), thesis supervisors prof. Gustavo Gozzi, and prof. Selenia Marabello.

Clara Csilla Romano won with a thesis entitled "Restorative justice and police-minority conflict resolution. Roma people in Hungary", thesis supervisor prof. Susanna Vezzadini.

The René Cassin award is an activity that forms part of a collaboration agreement established in 2009 between the Legislative Assembly and the KIP Universitas Programme. The winners of a Prize of 10,000 euros each will be inserted in activities supported by the KIP International School.

This year is the eighth edition of the award in collaboration with the KIP Universitas Programme and is considered an example of a good practice of democratic governance and youth opportunity by the Legislative Assembly of the Emilia Romagna Region.
