Study tour on Local Development and Sustainable Tourism (Liguria Region)

Pescaturismo (fishing tourism) in Sestri Levante, Genoa (Italy)

Tourism can be a strategy and, at the same time, a practical tool to promote high quality territorial development, especially if managed according to criteria of integrated and inclusive development. The study tour that took place during the second week examined integrated and sustainable tourism as a potential motor of local development, and focused on tools, processes and virtuous dynamics that can be created. The objective was to compare the context of the Liguria Region in Italy and the Regions of Kaolack and Sédhiou of Senegal, to get to know certain good practices of the Liguria Region and to identify possible collaboration between the two realities.

This initiative was part of the ongoing collaboration between the Liguria Region and the KIP International School’s Universitas Programme.
